NatHaz On-line Wind Simulator (NOWS)

NatHaz On-line Wind Simulator (NOWS) provides user with on-line simulation of stationary Gaussian multivariate wind fields on-the-fly. With the help of rapid development of internet/information technologies, NOWS enables user to simulate stationary random wind fields at any time/space through network-enabled computer system and general web browser. In addition, intuitive user-friendly interface and result interface makes user easy to input any terms and to check simulation results such as display of simulated wind histories. NOWS features supporting both Metric (SI) and English units as input/output with on-line unit converter, location inputs for vertical, horizontal or arbitrary coordinates, ASCE 7-based mean wind calculation considering terrain roughness to minimize user's input, offering to download ASCII file of simulation results providing user with further off-line analysis such as structural dynamic analysis under wind loads. In particular, one unique feature of this on-line analysis module is the flexibility of selecting one of three different simulation schemes and fluctuating wind forces option based on simulated fluctuating wind velocity fields.
